Hey Shotters!

Hope your all happy and well.

Just got home from what can only be described as an incredible day. Today we shot my first video for one of my new songs and boy, did I enjoy and take in EVERY SINGLE SECOND. The sun was shining so beautifully, and the crew were amazing – big shout out to B-RICH and the boys for your inspiring vision and direction. Also to Vic Flowers for letting us use your crib (Im movin in…dont forget, haha!)

The concept of the song is about true love, the feeling that you get when you are overwhelmed by the emotions you feel for that special person in your life. How you feel like you are resting on cloud nine, everything is completely picture perfect. I was lucky to have someone extremely special appear in my video, thankYOU.

What an experience – this is what i have been dreaming about since a little girl, and today it happened. There was no time to be shy, to be nervous. I was extremely lucky to have my CORE and heart in that room – without you guys Bluesy would not have come out…

Truly blessed. And truly friggin excited!

Nighty night

Shotter’s Diary

Daaarlings! Hello!

Welcome to my first entry of my diary!

Well..where do I start..!? Im currently in New York (yep, i just sung this Alicia Keys style whilst typing) and having the most incredible and inspiring time of my life! Im living in Brooklyn and the sun has been shining ever since I arrived here last month. Im here recording and writing my record, and its all starting to piece together which is a real exciting time for me. Im currently in a throwback mood, so Im sitting here now studying the oldies and the greats and researching the magic that they brought to the world. Oh yeah, and Im teaching myself the harmonica. Just had to throw that one in there..

New York really is a place where dreams are made of. London and New York are two of my favourite places in the world, pie and mash on one side, and pizza and coffee on the other. Its all good to me :) Although Im on a real health kick at the moment (grrr). Training everyday, doing these bloody circuits around the baseball pitch, drinking smoothies, you name it, Im on it. Its so HARD though!! Especially here! I was out running yesterday and a CAKE VAN drove right past me..SLOWLY..now if that isn’t a kick in my new veneers I don’t know what is! Off to the dentist this afternoon for my new front teeth. Singing and dribblin’ is not a good look, but I will try and style it out…!

Soo friggin excited about my new songs. I hope you guys like the little clippets on here I put on for you? Theres more to come so stay tuned..

I sung at Village Underground last week. It was real random, I went along with friends (my B tour family!) and we had a reserved table at the front, drinking and watching the INCREDIBLE singers and musicians. Then suddenly, after a few too many vodka and cranberry’s I suddenly found myself at the piano. I started singing and playing and the hype from the crowd really got me going..I suddenly switched the band to play reggae and I jumped off the piana, stood on top of the poor organ players stool, skatted and doo wopped, and somehow managed to get every person in the room to stand on their chairs! Then the following night, I got recognised in Times Square…’hey, you were the crazy British girl from last night..you KILLED IT!!’

Heading back to London (if I can make it through the volcano) next week, as I have a big Charity show, and then Im heading off to St Tropez for a gig. Then Im returning back to Brooklyn to finalise a few bits and bobs, then back home to prepare for my Fairfield Halls gig – have you got your ticket?? www.fairfield.co.uk

Really craving a sherbet dibdap – anyone fancy fed exing me one?

Well, I best scoodaloo as I have music to do…

Love and Peace

Singing sensation Katy Shotter features on Filmindustrynetwork.biz

CANNES, France – British singer and classical piano player Katy Shotter stole the show at MIDEM this year with her solo performance in the glamorous Martinez Hotel ballroom.

Katy got her big break when she took part in Matthew Knowles’ Bootcamp and won the chance of a lifetime to support Beyoncé Knowles on her 2007 UK tour, and was asked again to sing at her New Year show in Las Vegas in 2008. She has since been developing her writing skills, collaborating with songwriter Jack Knight for her new debut album coming out later this year.

Her manager was keen to bring her to MIDEM to showcase her work in Europe as she has spent a considerable amount of time in the US in the past.

Film Industry Network brings you Katy’s unique perspective of her musical experiences and ambitions.

What was it like to be on tour with Beyoncé?
It was incredible. It was a very surreal year. Before the tour, the only shows I had really done were at school and it wasn’t like I had been gigging for 2 years, so all of a sudden I got thrown into the huge ‘Arena’ world. I learnt so much from watching her every evening after I performed. She is one of the best performers of our day and it’s not only her work ethic, but its everything about her and it was a life changing experience.

Who do you want to collaborate with in the future?
Obviously it would be her (Beyoncé) because of our collaboration. Probably Alicia Keys too, because she is someone I look up to. Stevie Wonder would be up there. Prince would be incredible, and Amie Winehouse as well.

How did you find the experience of being at MIDEM? What were the highlights of your trip?
Definitely the performance and meeting all the musicians that I performed with as lot has come out of it and we all got on really well. I am writing with the Yeah Yous who were performing and Newton Faulkner. We have got a writing session in April. A lot of it came out musically, and also getting my name out there was a big buzz for me. Coming off the stage and having people wanting my autograph straight away was a high. Also coming to France, as I had never been before and being my first trip it was incredible and it made me want to come out here even more.

Do you prefer the UK or US music scene?
I think both in different ways. The music that comes out of the UK is incredible and when I played a lot of gigs at these music and Jazz nights it made me realize how much talent there is over in the UK.

In America it is different because the market I am approaching is bigger. When I was on tour, it was not a different reaction, but the Soul/RnB market is bigger, so they take it really well. In the UK it is only just starting to come out. You have the Amie Winehouses and Adeles but the UK market is very much built on trend, which is good, but id love to be part of both.

Where do you go when traveling to the US?
I work with Jack Knight based in Brooklyn, and I have been traveling there recently. I am going to LA in March to showcase all my new material, but in general I am going between LA and New York.
